A different sort of illustration

My art club (nvbof.se) is holding a group exhibition in Askersund right now, with the theme “under the surface” (under ytan), so after much humming and hawing it thankfully dawned on me that there are cultural and historical surfaces as well as physical ones. This is a pretty small painting done in gouache, but I had a lot of fun making it and am going to do a much larger one in acrylic so I can get in more realistic details and better transitions plus not be constrained by wayward brush strokes.

The runes at the bottom say “under ytan”. Or at least I hope that’s what they say, haha.

The title is Under a Modern Surface.
