I can both hope and imagine that Edward Lear would be amused with a toilet paper roll interpretation of his wonderful poem, The Owl and the Pussycat. These two were my very first tp roll creatures, and this scene was my first foray into combining digital photos and illustrated backgrounds. Little did I know the joy that would follow this spontaneous trip into whimsy.

Storks flying in the night mixed with umbrella pines from Lebanon. Someday I'd like to see these fascinating trees in person. This started as a cooperative project at Sörängen Folkhögskola where we (in the picture book program) got to illustrate stories told by newly arrived immigrants learning Swedish. Pictured here is Miriam arriving ahead of schedule in the middle of the night.
Happy Easter greetings from a Swedish Easter Witch, or at least my tp bunny version of one. She's been given the requisite black cat, broom, and tea kettle for her annual trip to the witch's gathering on Blå Jungfru Island in the Baltic Sea. Right before Easter, real children here dress up as witches and knock on neighborhood doors to hopefully exchange their handmade drawings for candy and cookies.
Here's a recycled bunny being recycled into a bunny witch, which was then recycled into the Easter Bunny witch. All thanks to the adorable #dtiys on instagram created by @onze.illustration :) JFTR, the owl in this illustration was my 3rd toilet paper roll beastie.
